TEC Announces Fiber Internet Network Buildout In Walnut Grove Area

TEC announced today that the construction contract for installation of their new fiber Internet service in the Walnut Grove area has been awarded to OBT Construction of Martin, Tennessee. Forrest Collier, TEC’s Director of Plant Operations, stated, “Work could begin as early as this week, weather permitting. If everything goes according to plans, construction should be completed by the beginning of July.”

When the plant construction is complete, TEC crews will begin connecting customers to the high-speed fiber based Internet products on a first-come, first-served basis. TEC is currently accepting pre-sale reservations for service on parts of Herbert Neal, Willie T. Crocker, R.A. Goodman, Oak Hollow, Gann, and Flippen Field Roads. The fiber Internet connections will offer speeds not previously available in the area. Joey F. Garner, Executive Vice President of TEC, added, “We are thrilled about this project, which allows TEC the opportunity of taking one more step toward our goal of closing the ‘digital divide’ for our customers in rural areas of Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi. TEC is dedicated to bringing high-speed Internet to these communities that we call home.”
