TEC continues expansion of Fast Fiber Internet to Scott and Rankin Counties

Bay Springs, Miss (September 1, 2021) --- TEC, a leading provider of Fast Fiber Internet to rural communities across the Southeast, has broken ground on their newest project to provide underserved Morton, Magee, Mendenhall, and Brandon communities with Fast Fiber Internet. This project is the fifth of a seven-phase build-out across central Mississippi, with TEC investing just under ten million dollars in fiber internet infrastructure.

TEC’s goal is to bridge the digital divide by providing an affordable, reliable, high-speed internet option that ultimately has positive impact in the communities it serves. With Fast Fiber Internet from TEC, residents can telecommute, easily access digital learning, work with physicians by telemedicine, and enjoy streaming video services. The newly gained fiber access will change the economic landscape for Rankin and Scott County area businesses, allowing them to have more efficient production of goods and services with a reliable internet connection.

“We are so thrilled to break ground on this portion of the expansion, and we look forward to the immense impact this investment will have on our customers in these communities and beyond,” states Joey Garner, TEC Executive Vice President. “The need for reliable and affordable high-speed internet has never been more apparent for rural communities. Access to telehealth services, remote learning, and business operations remain critical in helping rural communities.”
