Bradford, Tennessee (August 16, 2023) – TEC, a leading rural broadband provider, has completed construction on a project in North Carroll County. This project creates connectivity for nearly 900 homes and businesses by providing access to Gigabit speed internet. The project covers an additional 83.8 miles in the McLemoresville and Huntingdon communities. TEC was awarded $2.7 million in funding by the USDA Rural Utilities Service to build high-speed internet access to these communities. Additionally, TEC invested more than $900,000 for a total build-out construction project of more than $3.6 million.
“Reliable, high-speed internet is critical to the quality of life for those that call rural areas like Carroll County home,” says Joseph G. Butler, Carroll County Mayor. “This is why we’ve placed such an emphasis on working with TEC to achieve this for our rural residents. As TEC has begun providing these services, we have already heard from a family doctor that can now provide telehealth services from home, a young lady that can now run her online boutique, a software engineer that is now able to work from home, and numerous students that are able to learn remotely. For these individuals, families, and businesses, the impact is simply life changing. “
Dependable fiber internet connections offer improved quality of life through telemedicine, distance learning, and remote employment. Additionally, high-speed broadband provides personal enjoyment, such as gaming and video streaming. TEC’s goal is to minimize the access gap by providing a reliable, high-quality, affordable internet solution.
“TEC believes that residents and business owners in rural areas should be able to benefit from the same access to high-speed internet as those in metropolitan areas can,” said Joey Garner, the company’s CEO. “With the completion of this phase of construction, more customers in McLemoresville and Huntington have that opportunity.”
