TEC to expand Fast Fiber Internet access to more of Scott County

Bay Springs, Miss (June 18, 2021) --- TEC, a leading provider of Fast Fiber Internet to rural communities across the Southeast, has broken ground on another project to provide underserved Forest, Lake and Morton communities Fast Fiber Internet. Construction is scheduled to be completed this Fall with service installations to begin promptly after. This project is the fourth of a seven-phase build-out across central Mississippi, with TEC investing just under ten million dollars in fiber internet infrastructure.

“This is a great development opportunity for Scott County, we are excited that TEC is bringing us Fast Fiber Internet,” says District 75, State Representative Tom Miles. “We look forward to more partnerships with TEC, our local county, city, and state government to bring more broadband access to Scott County. Broadband access is an important economic engine and the number one priority for our county and for retaining our skilled workforce in Mississippi.”

TEC’s goal is to bridge the digital divide by providing a reliable, high-speed internet option that ultimately has positive impact in the communities which it serves. With Fast Fiber Internet from TEC, residents can telecommute, easily access digital learning, work with physicians by telemedicine, and stream online video services. The newly gained fiber access will change the economic landscape for Scott County area businesses, allowing them to have more efficient production of goods and services with a reliable internet connection.

“The access to reliable, high-speed internet is more important now than ever before,” said Joey Garner, TEC Executive Vice President. “We are excited to expand our services to more locations in Scott County and to see the positive impact this access will bring to the area. It is projects like these that are truly making the difference in closing the digital divide that currently exists in our rural communities, and TEC is committed to continuing our efforts in increasing connectivity in areas that need it most.”
